Breastfeeding Awareness Month

I recently participated in my community's breastfeeding awareness 5k walk/run this weekend in support of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1 - 7). Actually, August is National Breastfeeding Awareness month! How wonderful is that, an entire month dedicated to spreading awareness and giving support.

While I was happy to show my support and walk for such a great cause, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a bigger turn out. Overall there were roughly 40 walkers/runners that came out to participate, a much greater turn out then last years event (only 3 people in 2014). The organizers were very optimistic that this event will continue to grow. As a strong advocate for breastfeeding, I offered my services in helping to bring in more community members next year.

In honor of this wonderful month, please show your support for the women in your life that choose to breastfeed. Praise them for their giving their baby the best possible start in life. Do your part to normalize breastfeeding and show your support.
